Magnificent and stunning, yet dangerous and breathtaking. They are world's most dangerous roads. Driving, you get the impression of touching the sky. Through difficult hairpin turns and steep inclines, you may have the change to admire the unbelievable landscapes these roads open in front of you.

Most of the roads presented seem to be created by nature without any human involvement. They were made through huge rocks, steep slopes, and stones, and they are world's most dangerous roads. And they are not the only ones.





The North Yungas Road (Road of Death), Bolivia
They call it “El Camino de la Muerte, or “The Road of Death”. It stretches for about 70 km and most of the road is only 3.2 meters wide. The road that connects La Paz, the administrative capital of Bolivia, to Coroico, ascends to around 4.650 meters at La Cumbre Pass, and descends to 1.200 meters at the town of Coroico. Having a single lane and lacking guard walls, the North Yungas Road was named world's most dangerous road. A trip on this route can become a real adventure. It is estimated that around 200 to 300 people are killed every year on this road of terror.




Guoliang Tunnel in Taihang mountains, China
This is an amazing route through a tunnel in the Taihang Mountains that translated from Chinese means “Road that does not tolerate any mistakes”. And this is totally true, as most of the accidents that take place inside the tunnel are caused by the travelers negligence. With 1.200 meters length, 4 meters width and 30 windows to enjoy the landscape, the Guoliang tunnel is placed among the most dangerous roads in the world. Despite its terrifying part, it represents a fascinating destination on all the touristic itineraries.








Col de Turini, France
Col de Turini is a mountain pass in the Alps in southern France and is situated at 1.600 meters above sea level, being one of the most provocative roads in the world. Col de Turini is a part of a 32-km portion of road of the Monte Carlo Rally, a route that combines 34 extremely dangerous and difficult hairpin turns, but also linear segments where race cars can reach 180km/hour. In its highest point, the pass has a altitude of 1.607 meters. On the North side, the road starts with a stunning series of 180 degree curves. Towards the end, drivers have to pass a strait with a savage whirling river on the left and an impressing rocky wall on the right. Col de Turini was also driven at night, until a few years ago.



Stelvio Pass, Italy
Situated in the Eastern Alps, in Italy, the Stelvio Pass connects Valtellina de Merano with the high Adige valley. This mountain route is located at 2.757 meters above sea level, being the highest paved mountain pass in the Eastern Alps, and the second highest in the Alps after Col de l’Iseran (2770 m). The road is very challenging and difficult to cross due to its 48 hairpin turns, but also to the extreme narowness in certain points. The most breathtaking climbing is from the Prato side.



Leh Manali, India
The Leh-Manali highway in India stretches over a total distance of 475 km through the high mountains of Himalaya. The road crosses one of the highest mountain pass in the world, at over 5.000 meters high, making it world's second highest road. This is one of the most complicated and dangerous highways in the world being the perfect route for those who are looking to pump up their adrenaline




Taroko Gorge Road, Taiwan
Taroko Gorge Road is a breathtaking mountain route that gets to 3.282 meters high and is made by carving rocks. It goes through the Taroko National Park alongside the Taroko Gorge.




Trollstigen, Norway
One of the most stunning roads on the Fjord in Norway is the Trollstigen, or the “Troll Ladder”. Even though it has many safety standards, the hairpins and the steep inclines require a lot of concentration and attention. The road is rather narrow, thus making almost impossible for vehicles to pass each other. All the way up, the landscape is incredible with amazing waterfalls, the most neautiful being the Stigfossen waterfall that drops right along and under the Trollstigen.
